My Life With Joe
I got sent a present from Twitter. That’s right, the social media company. That’s because this newsletter platform (Revue) is owned by Twitter, and I write a newsletter on Revue. I don’t think they gave every newsletter author a present (although, I wouldn’t be surprised … the peeps over at Revue are pretty cool). Honestly, I’m fairly certain it’s because they like Joe, and they really, really wanted to see a picture of him with the glasses on.
These new glasses make Joe sleepy.

A Blue Light Filter From The Blue Birdie
One of the things I like about Revue, other than the fact that they give me nice presents, is that they put out a very cool newsletter.
But did I also mention they gave me a present?
I’ve been having a lot of trouble sleeping this past month. Insomnia is no joke. And I make it like 2938439x worse every night by staying up all hours of the night, either typing on my computer or watching television. And drinking coffee. Because I can’t sleep.
In the television department, I’ve been on a “fantasy” streak. The 4400 (if The 4400 reboot is as bad as Charmed reboot …), The Wheel of Time (truly boring, by the way), Game of Thrones (not as good the second time around, but still awesome), The Witcher (Henry Cavill is really my not-so-secret fan crush) … if people can do fantastical stuff, I’ve been watching it. I’ve even watched some B rated movies that include dragons and swords and magicians.
Somewhere along the insomnia way, I decided that my lack of sleep was due to my screen time. Okay, so it should have been obvious. Except the problem is, when you cannot sleep … you cannot think.
Other side effects include carpal tunnel, a sore neck, a worn-out rug from all the pacing, and a cranky disposition. I’m not so certain about the cranky disposition, but my husband told me about it.
The stars were aligned, though, because Twitter gave me a present for the holidays! Exactly what I needed! I got a pair of Blue Light Blocking Glasses. The irony that Twitter’s logo is a cute blue bird was not lost on me. It was like the glasses aligned with the birds. Okay, I just made that up.
Twitter, I want to tell you that I finally had a good night’s sleep. My husband thanks you.
So does the dog. He received copious treats in the photography session.
The Book Promos
This newsletter, we have a plethora of goodies for you. I would appreciate it if you checked out these special authors and giveaways!
First up, we have a Mystery, Suspense, Crime, Murder & Mayhem eBook giveaway. It’s sure to please all of you fans of the thriller genre.
Next up is the Shadows of Mystery giveaway. It isn’t many chances that I have to promote two mystery giveaways, so I’m super excited.
For our authors, I’d like to first introduce you to The Haunting of Bridge Manor: The Trilogy by Marc Layton. I do love a great haunted house thriller. Even the cover gives me some chills.
Next, we have Paradise Down: C'Mon Inn Mystery Book 1 by Donna B McNicol. I love the bright cover (and the super funny play on words).
Last but not least, we have The Nanny by Jessica Lewis. Everyone has skeletons in their closets. Find out what theirs are.
Happenings
I haven’t done much these past few weeks. I did watch a lot of television.
But, I did a lot of planning as well. I know it’s totally cliché, but I wrote out my goals for the year.
Those goals include starting a paid version of the newsletter. Lots of my author friends are serializing their novels, which sounds as exciting to me as sticking toothpicks underneath my fingernails. I tend to have a lot more writing-ADHD than them. And a side effect of writing-ADHD is that things don’t get done because I’m off to the next … ooooh, a balloon.
Sorry, that balloon was awesome.
My other goals are finishing the first draft of my novel, writing (and giving away to this newsletter) a free prequel novella to my novel, writing 50 blawg posts, reviving one of my old websites (more on that next newsletter), and saving a bunch of money.
Oh, and sleeping.
With love,
Maureen
P.S. What are your new year’s resolutions? Drop me an email!
P.P.S. Yes, I am wearing the glasses as I write this. It’s time for bed soon, though.
