The Seventh Umbral Era Quests are broken down into the three starting city quests and then you merge into one quest line. The following is a summary of each quest. To get a recap of the entire levels, read the top header section.
You head to Ul’dah, one of the three allied cities. Ul’dah is ruled by Nanamo Ul Namo, seventeenth of her name. You learn about the Calamity, which was this horrific war five years ago. The three nations of Ul’dah, Limsa Lominsa, and Gridania fought against the Garlean Empire and Bahamut. A man named Solus zos Galvus built the Garlean Empire in one lifetime, and since he is now ill, has turned over the reigns to a horrible dude named Legatus Gaius van Baelsar. Since then, refugees have starved as Ul’dah rebuilds itself against an inevitable attack. Added to these troubles, the beastman have been stirring up some skirmishes with their primals.
You meet her majesty, Nanamo Ul Namo, when she takes a tantrum, runs away from her royal bodyguard, and prays underneath the sultanatree. Of course, she is attacked. You then learn of some conspiracy between the Brass Blades — run by a man named Lord Lolito — and the bandits. These said groups stole Nanamo Ul Namo’s crown. You, along with a handsome friend named Thancred who just happens to show up whenever you are in trouble, help retrieve the crown.
During these events that Thancred shows up, you find a crystal. This gives apparently gives you the ability to be semi-omniscient, and you begin to have all sorts of crazy dreams, after which you pass out like a drunk at the Quicksand. This crystal is connected to Hydaelyn, the mother crystal. This is a good thing, because it means the reemergence of the Warriors of Light, adventurers (like you) who helped fight in the Calamity. You know that means that you are gonna be fightin’ some wars. It also means that you might mysteriously die and fade away like they did. That sucks. Especially since no one can even remember their names. The mother crystal has some serious explaining to do.
Level 15: It’s Probably Pirates
Some suspicious peeps have been sneaking around Sastasha Seagrot near Aleport. Commodore Reyner shows up to elaborate. He can’t afford to tie up his Yellowjackets to investigate. So he sends you off to V’mellpa at the ferry docks. You can buy ferry from the skipper right next to V’mellpa. She tells you to go to the Hall of the Novice. At the Hall of Novice, you are peer pressured into training with the Smith, which in fairness, he gives you some great armor. You then head up to Sastasha, where you will meet up with three other adventurers. Here, you defeat Denn the Orcatoothed and the other pirates and fishbacks that have taken over the Sastasha Seagrot. You meet Dolorous Bear, Kikina, and E’manafa who seemed disappointed that they didn’t get to crack some skulls with you.
Level 15: Call of the Forest
Baderon has heard from Mother Miounne, who is in need of an adventurer. She is located at the Adventurers’ Guild in Gridania.
