A few weeks ago, I posted a picture of Mr. Zucchini, who has produced over a dozen zukes since then. We’re up to our zukes in zukes over here. We have so many zucchini that even the neighbors got sick of us giving them zucchini. Oh, and btw, some aquarium fish like zucchini too – so I even fed some to my fish. But, can dogs eat zucchini? I did some research … and, yes, they can!
Can I Give My Dog Zucchini?
Zucchini is the only vegetable that I’ve managed to grow successfully. My sweet potatoes from a few weeks ago have died a horrible death even though I managed to keep Joe out of my vegetable garden. Tomatoes hate me. And green beans, which even a toddler could grow, hang on for about a week before succumbing to vegetable heaven. I used to think it was because we lived in a condo that had a very small plot of land, but the year that I rented a garden patch, all of my plants got blight.
But, Zucchinis are my friends. Joe is my friend. So I decided to feed some zucchini to Joe so that they could be friends, too.
Can Dogs Eat Zucchini Raw?
Raw or cooked, zucchini is safe for dogs to eat. But be sure to set aside some of it before you cook your own, because dogs do not do well with seasonings, oils, and some other vegetables.
Can Dogs Eat Zucchini Skin?
Again, yes! All parts of zucchini are okay for dogs. But, be sure to wash before giving any to your dogs, in case your zukes get something bad on them, like fertilizer. Or ant poop. Worm poop is probably okay, though.
